Hi all!
Sorry for the late blog - it's a busy week!! But i'm feeling lucky now to be sitting down relaxed, watching the rain outside & drinking a nice cup of Alpine tea before an early night :-)
Last week I visited Ronald McDonald House & spent some time with Anna who showed me around & told me a little about what they get up to in the house. It really is such a cool facility.
I got to have a play on their new trampoline haha & check out their arts room, huge awesome kitchen & relaxing spacious living areas. They have showed their huge appreciation to me & everyone who has donated so far to help them keep RMD to the standard it is & keep getting bigger & better. So thanks to everyone who has donated & come along for any walks so far, you rock!!
Oh & the team from RMD are going to be joining me on some walks soon too which is really exciting :-)
I also have my t-shirt from the SPCA which I will proudly wear out on my walks. I plan to visit the facility there & say hi soon. Keep an eye out for super duper cute pics of any furry friends that I find.
Phew adding 50kms of walking to my already busy week of work & training is proving to be a real challenge! I knew it would be and that is why I chose this as I wanted a challenge #gettingitdone :) Some weeks are going to be easier than others. So I may not hit the 50km one week but I'll make it up another. I'm keeping a spreadsheet with all of my distances & recording how long each walk takes so I can see where I need to improve, how far I've come & how far to go.
This week's walks so far have been mostly around home & range anywhere between 4 - 8km each day. I also sneak in walks around the block anytime I can, the block at our gym is almost 1km long & it all adds up to extra kms & movement.
For anyone wanting to join my weekend walk we are walking from Woodend Beach to Waikuku & back along the beach on Sunday morning starting 8.30am. This is a 12km walk. We'd love the company, so schedule it in & come along!
Next weekend is Waitangi weekend & I plan to organise a longer walk of 15-18km on Saturday morning. This will be based in the port hills probably starting at Hackthorne Rd. Let me know if you can join.
If one of my posted walks doesn't quite fit with your schedule feel free to message me & arrange to meet at another time. The more people to walk with the more motivation for me & you get fit too!
Stretching! I've really noticed with all of the extra activity that I am getting tight muscles. To avoid injury I am making sure to stretch often (2 times a day). Stretching is so important & is often a forgotten or overlooked part of fitness. If you exercise then be sure to add 5 minutes of stretching 2 x per day to your routine & your body will love you for it.
Enjoy the rest of the week everyone & let's all get some sleep tonight with the cooler weather! ha.
